I've had the amazing pleasure of being a part of many events, and helping plan them. The events I have been a significant part of, and the ones I have planned almost exclusively by myself are:
Bowling For Jeans 2nd Annual Run For Recovery
- With me on board the second time around, this event went from 30+ runners to over 100. There were some great live bands including some that were featured in the Peak Performance Project. Our press releases brought in television news coverage and community newspapers and blogs in Surrey and the surrounding areas:
- This was a series of bowling nights throughout Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley and its aim was to collect donations of new and gently used jeans for the men and women of the Welcome Home Addiction Recovery Academy. It was a lot of fun and we procured a month of free ads in the Surrey Now for the event. Here are some photos from these bowling nights:
Welcome Home Addiction Recovery Academy Bra Drive & Spa Day - This event's main aim was to collect bras for the female program participants at the Welcome Home Addiction Recovery Academy. This was my brain child and I took care of it from beginning to end. I was able to get a local Nail Salon to offer their premises and services for the event. All their services were by donation that day, either of a bra or money. We procured 4 weeks of free ads at the Surrey Now for this event, sent out a press release and it was posted about on the Georgia Straight web site. The fact that we called this a bra drive really made people stop and take notice. A great example of thinking outside the box.
